Taliban Defense Minister Meets with Senior Turkish and Qatari Security Officials

The Taliban Defense Ministry stated that in the meeting between Mujahid and the head of Turkish intelligence, discussions took place on bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Turkey, security issues, and the regional stability situation. According to the ministry, both sides also emphasized strengthening security and defense cooperation between Kabul and Ankara.


In a separate meeting with the Deputy of Qatar's National Security Council, Mujahid discussed the continuation and consolidation of relations between the two sides in various sectors. The Taliban Defense Ministry says both sides emphasized expanding cooperation.


Senior security delegations from Turkey and Qatar arrived in Kabul on Tuesday; however, official details regarding the objectives and programs of these visits have not yet been released. Some sources in Kabul have also said that the Turkish delegation, after concluding its trip to Kabul, has headed to Islamabad.


Turkey and Qatar are among the countries with close relations to the Taliban, and the embassies of both nations in Kabul are operational. Afghanistan's diplomatic representations in Ankara and Doha are also under Taliban control. These two countries have previously played roles in mediation efforts between the Taliban and Pakistan.



Taliban Defense Minister Yaqoob Mujahid held separate meetings in Kabul on Wednesday, 25th of Sunbula (September), with Ibrahim Kalın, head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization, and Hamad bin Khamees Al-Kaabi, Deputy of Qatar's National Security Council.
