New York Times: Trump is considering broader military options against Iran

According to U.S. officials, some of these scenarios include covert operations by American special forces inside Iran—an action fraught with risk, aimed at damaging sections of the nuclear program that have remained unscathed in past airstrikes. At the same time, the option of broader attacks on Iran's military centers and leadership is also on the table—a scenario that could lead to deep political instability.

Alongside these threats, Trump has put forward maximum demands from Tehran, including the complete and permanent halt of uranium enrichment, the abandonment of nuclear stockpiles, the severe restriction of the ballistic missile program, and an end to support for regional proxy groups. Nevertheless, he has not yet authorized military action and has not entirely ruled out the path of diplomacy.

The White House says that publicizing these threats is intended to compel Iran to negotiate, although Trump has even raised the scenario of "regime change" in internal circles. At the same time, the escalation of sanctions and threats of tariffs on countries cooperating with Iran indicate the simultaneous use of economic and military pressure.

The New York Times also reports on the increased U.S. military presence in the region—from the deployment of aircraft carriers and fighter jets to the bolstering of defensive systems. However, within the Trump administration, there is still no consensus on the ultimate objective of any military action, and legal questions about carrying out a large-scale attack without congressional authorization remain unanswered.

The New York Times has reported that Donald Trump has recently been confronted with a broader array of military options against the Islamic Republic—scenarios that go beyond his previous considerations during the height of the nationwide protests in Iran. These options range from intensifying attacks on nuclear and missile infrastructure to weakening or even removing the leader of the Islamic Republic.
