Research report: 2025 was the deadliest year for Pakistani civilians in a decade

According to this report, in 2025, at least 2,115 militants, 664 security personnel, and 580 civilians were killed in Pakistan. The institute has also described this year as the deadliest period for insurgents and the worst year for Pakistan's security forces since 2011.


The report states that the intensity and scope of violence have increased significantly, and the number of militant attacks has reached its highest level since 2014. The use of suicide bombings and small drones has also shown an upward trend.


According to these statistics, security force casualties increased by about 26 percent compared to 2024, and civilian deaths rose by 24 percent. Additionally, the total number of injuries during attacks in 2025 reached 2,263, including security forces, civilians, and militants.


The institute has added that arrests related to terrorism in 2025 increased by about 83 percent, with 497 suspects detained in this regard. According to this organization, throughout the year, 1,063 terrorist attacks occurred across Pakistan, and the number of suicide attacks increased by 53 percent compared to the previous year.

The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies has stated in a report that the year 2025 AD has been the deadliest year for civilians in the country in the past decade, with deaths resulting from conflicts increasing by 73 percent compared to the previous year.
