Trust Fund announces Italy's assistance of approximately $2.8 million for Afghanistan

The fund wrote in a note on its X account on (Thursday, January 1) that the purpose of this aid is to protect cultural heritage, improve human settlements, advance economic solutions, and enhance resilience to climate change.


The Afghanistan Trust Fund described Italy's aid as a joint effort to provide integrated services in the country.


The organization announced that in the year 2025, it has assisted at least one million Afghan citizens, 40 percent of whom are women and girls.


The Afghanistan Trust Fund described the year 2025 as a year of hope and resilience, adding that in this year it has received $24.7 million from donors.


This aid comes as the United Nations and human rights organizations have warned that Afghanistan will remain one of the world's largest humanitarian crises in 2026.
