Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf warns against weakening Pakistan's constitution

This letter, published on Sunday morning, describes the current state of Pakistan's judiciary as alarming and claims that the credibility of judicial institutions and the Supreme Court's ability to enforce legal rulings have been severely damaged.


The letter states that the country's executive branch has blatantly exceeded the limits of its legal authority and, without accountability, has repeatedly violated constitutional laws; meanwhile, the higher courts have so far failed to take effective and decisive action to curb this trend.


Tehreek-e-Insaf has emphasized that many judicial decisions are completely ignored by the government with utter disregard, and this situation has challenged the principle of the rule of law.


In another section of the letter, reference is made to the political actions against Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and it is stated that thousands of members and supporters of this party have been unjustly arrested. It also mentions pressure, mistreatment, and widespread restrictions against political activists, journalists, defense lawyers, and civil society actors.


According to the authors of this letter, cases of enforced disappearances and illegal detentions have become a routine practice, and cases related to citizens' fundamental rights remain unresolved in the courts.


Tehreek-e-Insaf has clarified in this letter that silence or delay in the face of constitutional violations does not constitute neutrality, but rather amounts to alignment with injustice.


The party has urged the Chief Justice to ensure the enforcement of judicial rulings without any exceptions, to hold accountable officials who violate the law, and to take concrete action for the immediate resolution of cases involving political prisoners and disappeared persons.

Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf party has issued a warning through an open letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the country regarding what it has called the "unprecedented weakening of the constitution and a deep crisis in the independence of the judiciary."
