One Taliban official killed in Herat

According to sources, this incident occurred in the late hours of Thursday night, and Mohammad Ismail Shahamat was killed as a result of gunfire by unidentified individuals.


Ghulam Haider Shahamat, his brother, is considered one of the Taliban commanders and, in the days leading up to the fall of Herat, was responsible for leading Taliban forces in the western sections of this province.


After the Taliban's renewed control over Afghanistan, he was appointed as head of the Technical and Vocational Education Department.


No further details have yet been released regarding the perpetrators of this attack or its motives.


Taliban officials have also not reacted to this incident.

Local sources in Herat province say that Mohammad Ismail Shahamat, brother of Ghulam Haider Shahamat, head of the Taliban's Technical and Vocational Education Department, has been killed in the Kesan district of this province.
