Returning in the Cold; More than 2,000 Afghan Refugees Deported in One Day

This process continues even as many of these individuals have been compelled to leave their places of residence under harsh winter conditions.


According to the information provided, the migrants have entered the country via various border routes, including the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Bahramcha in Helmand, Islam Qala in Herat, and the Silk Bridge in Nimruz.


The largest number of returnees has been reported from the Torkham crossing, encompassing hundreds of families.


Officials from this commission claim that initial assistance has been provided to the returning migrants, including transportation services and basic aid. Nevertheless, concerns persist regarding the living conditions and shelter for these families.


On the other hand, Maulvi Ahmadullah Wasiq, one of the commission's members, has stated that despite the cold weather, the forced deportation of Afghan citizens from Pakistan and Iran has not been halted and continues unabated. According to him, approximately one and a half million Afghan migrants have been returned to the country over the past six months.

The Refugees' Affairs Commission under the Taliban administration has announced that, in a single day alone, more than two thousand Afghan citizens have been forcibly returned to Afghanistan from neighboring countries.
