Sources: Special Forces Target Taliban Leader in Kandahar Airstrike

These sources, who did not wish to reveal their identities for security reasons, stated that the attack occurred around 3:30 a.m. and resulted in the deaths of six civilians and injuries to several others. The wounded were transferred to Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar for medical treatment.


According to the sources, "Sarai Mulla Sahib" was previously the residence of Mullah Mohammed Omar, the founder of the Taliban. Currently, Hibatullah's special forces are present at this site, where, in addition to a school, educational and military training centers are also operational. The sources say that a number of forces responsible for protecting Hibatullah are also being trained there.


Eyewitnesses have said that the sound of Pakistani fighter jets was heard in the area before the explosion occurred, followed by a massive blast. They added that "Sarai Mulla Sahib" caught fire after the explosion. The intensity of the blast, according to the sources, was such that its sound was heard several kilometers away in Kandahar city.


Meanwhile, Pakistan's Information Minister has confirmed that the country targeted positions in 10 locations in Afghanistan with airstrikes. He provided no details on the exact locations of these attacks but stated that the targets were related to the launching and maintenance of drones.


The Taliban spokesperson has also stated that in Pakistan's attacks in the provinces of Kandahar, Paktia, and Khost, four civilians were killed.


The attack in Kandahar is reported amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban in recent days.



Local sources confirm that Pakistan targeted a region known as "Sarai Mulla Sahib" in the ninth security district of Kandahar city with an airstrike in the early hours of Thursday, the second of Miyan (October 24). This is a location where, according to them, the special forces of Mullah Hibatullah, the Taliban leader, are stationed.
