Local sources: Taliban behead Ismaili girl in Shoghnan, Badakhshan

According to the sources, these girls were stopped on Sunday morning, 18 Asad, while passing through a checkpoint in the center of the Shughnan market and were detained for not adhering to the hijab requirements mandated by the Taliban.


Eyewitnesses have said that Taliban agents behaved in an insulting and inappropriate manner toward the Ismaili women during the detention of these girls.


This incident occurred after Taliban Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice agents set up a checkpoint in the center of the Shughnan market and began inspecting passing vehicles.


Local residents have also refrained from publicly protesting the detention of these girls due to fears of Taliban reprisals. Shughnan is one of the border districts of Badakhshan, and a large portion of its residents follow the Ismaili faith.

Local sources in Badakhshan say that Taliban Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice agents have detained six young Ismaili girls in the Shughnan district of this province.
