Malala Yousafzai strongly criticizes Pakistan's repression of women and civil society activists

In a message posted on her official page on the social network "X," she expressed profound concern and stated that imprisoning women and members of civil society and issuing harsh sentences, even exceeding ten years of imprisonment, solely for expressing opinions in the virtual space, is incompatible with the principles of justice, freedom of expression, and human values.


Malala emphasized that such actions indicate a serious gap between the performance of governing institutions and the ideals on which the founders of this country promised justice and equality.


This prominent human rights activist added that she stands alongside Pakistani women and civil society activists and calls on legal systems, governmental structures, and responsible institutions to be accountable and ensure justice without discrimination.


She clarified that true justice gains meaning when it reaches the most vulnerable segments of society and supports those who bravely stand by them and strive for human rights.

Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has described the arrest and sentencing of women and civil society activists in Pakistan for their social media activities as a blatant violation of fundamental freedoms and human rights.
