Maduro's plight; Trump calls Venezuela attack and arrest of president 'a brilliant operation'

In a brief phone conversation with The New York Times, he said that this operation was carried out with "good planning and the participation of outstanding forces."


Trump had previously stated on the social network "Truth Social" that Maduro and his wife were arrested during this operation and transferred out of Venezuela.


In response, the Vice Presidency of Venezuela announced that the government of that country has no information about the status of Maduro and his wife and has asked the United States to provide evidence showing that they are alive. At the same time, the Venezuelan government has announced the deployment of armed forces and the declaration of a national state of emergency.


These statements came after reports emerged early Saturday morning of multiple explosions occurring in various parts of Caracas, including near some military bases.


This development comes as tensions between Washington and Caracas have escalated in recent weeks. The United States had previously announced that it had targeted several boats in the Caribbean Sea, which, according to U.S. officials, were being used for drug trafficking. The United States has consistently accused Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking and the illegitimacy of his leadership; claims that the Venezuelan government has rejected, viewing these actions as an attempt to change the regime and exert political pressure.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, has described the American forces' attack on Venezuela and the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the president of that country, as a "brilliant operation."
