National Resistance Front introduces commander to replace Hossein Panjshiri

The front, on Friday, 13th of Virgonay (September 3), issued a statement expressing gratitude to national and political figures, leaders, and citizens of Afghanistan who honored the memory of Hasib Panjshiri through messages of condolence, memorial ceremonies, and expressions of solidarity.


The National Resistance Front has wished success to Mukhtar Shorish in his new role and stated that it expects him to pursue the path of Hasib Panjshiri and the ideal of "freedom and dignity for the people of Afghanistan" with "steadfastness, loyalty, and commitment." The front also emphasized that "Hasib Panjshiri's trench will not remain empty" and added: "The path of the martyrs continues, and the flag of resistance will never fall to the ground."


Prior to the fall of the Republic, Hasib Panjshiri served in the Special Units of the General Directorate of National Security. After the Taliban's return to power in August 2021, he joined the armed resistance against the group and, over the past five years, had been active inside Afghanistan as one of the well-known commanders of the National Resistance Front. Images and videos of him in mountainous areas and during clashes with Taliban forces had also been widely circulated multiple times.


The National Resistance Front confirmed the killing of Hasib Panjshiri on Thursday, 29th of Wasa (August 20). Taliban sources had stated that he was killed during an operation in northern Salang.



The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has announced that Commander Mukhtar Shorish, a close comrade of Hasib Panjshiri, has been appointed as his successor. Hasib Panjshiri, one of the senior field commanders of this front, was recently killed in a clash with Taliban forces.
