Russia: US has committed 'armed aggression' against Venezuela

Moscow has emphasized that the use of force against a sovereign government is contrary to the accepted norms of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter.


In this statement, it has been warned that such actions could jeopardize regional stability and lead to unpredictable consequences on the international level.


Meanwhile, Donald Trump, President of the United States, has confirmed that Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela, and his wife were arrested during this operation and transferred out of the country.


The U.S. President has described the American forces' attack on Venezuela and the arrest of Maduro as a "brilliant operation." In a brief phone conversation with The New York Times, he said that the operation was carried out with "good planning and the participation of outstanding forces."

The Russian Foreign Ministry, expressing deep concern over recent events in Venezuela, has stated that it considers a U.S. military action against the country unacceptable.
