Iran Naval Blockade; CENTCOM Says It Has Rerouted Dozens of Ships

CENTCOM stated in a release early Saturday morning, August 1, that U.S. forces will continue the maritime blockade of Iran.

According to the U.S. military, nearly 30 ships carrying humanitarian aid have also been permitted to pass through.

This comes as Iran's armed forces have warned in recent days that continuing the maritime blockade of the country will be regarded as a continuation of the war.

Meanwhile, CNN has reported that Washington is planning new strikes against the Islamic Republic by the end of the week, although the scope and potential targets of these strikes remain unclear, and the operation may be canceled. According to the network, U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking a solution to end the war.

Based on this report, CENTCOM has prepared options for expanding operations, which also include a heavy two-week bombing campaign against Iran's missile sites. Energy infrastructure is among the potential targets of these strikes; however, the Trump administration is cautious about this option due to the risk of retaliatory attacks by the Islamic Republic on the infrastructure of Gulf states and the consequences for the global energy market.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that, as part of the maritime blockade of Iran, it has diverted the course of 30 commercial vessels. It has also reported disabling two ships and inspecting two others.
