The Taliban claimed in a statement that at the time of the attack, district officials were on leave, and the assault was carried out by individuals whom this group has labeled "irresponsible." According to this command, Taliban forces were dispatched to the scene after being informed of the incident.


Based on the Taliban's announcement, the attackers fled the area before reinforcements arrived, and search operations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack are ongoing. The group also stated that several individuals linked to this incident have been detained; however, it provided no details about their identities.


In response, local sources say the Taliban, following this attack, have detained a number of area residents on suspicion of collaboration or involvement in the incident. According to these sources, among the detainees are not only civilians but also several local Taliban members.


Activists close to the Taliban have also shared images of some of the detained individuals on social media.


Local sources further report that forces from the "Homeland Soldiers Front" took a significant amount of weaponry, military equipment, and some government vehicles with them after entering the district building, and left the scene before Taliban reinforcements arrived.


According to these same sources, the Taliban, after the clashes ended, launched house-to-house search operations in the lower Yaftal area and detained a number of local residents.


Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Taliban, to bolster security, have dispatched fresh forces from Faizabad city, the capital of Badakhshan Province, to the lower Yaftal District.

The Taliban security command in Badakhshan Province announced on Friday that Yaftal District came under attack last night and was briefly out of this group's control. Meanwhile, responsibility for this operation has been claimed by the newly established military group "Homeland Soldiers Front."
