Halash Human Rights Organization: 17 Afghan citizens died of thirst at the Iranian border

According to the organization's report, the bodies of the victims, after being transported from the scene, were moved to Khash due to insufficient capacity in the Saravan morgue. Halvoosh has also released videos showing several individuals digging graves for the victims in an unidentified location.

Among the deceased were five members of a family from Baghlan Province, including a 45-year-old mother and her four daughters aged 22, 18, 16, and 14. Relatives of this family live in Saravan, and their funeral prayers are scheduled to be held on Sunday. At least six children under the age of 14 have also been reported among the other victims.

Witnesses and relatives of the victims have stated that these Afghan citizens encountered a severe shortage of water along their route, and several of them died of thirst in close proximity to one another. One of their relatives also said that the men accompanying this group separated from the women and children midway, and the women and children continued on their path without adequate access to water.

The victims' families are still pursuing the transfer and burial of the bodies four days after the incident. Halvoosh has emphasized that it cannot independently verify the exact number of the deceased or all details of the incident, and information regarding the identities of the other victims and the circumstances of the event remains under investigation.

The human rights organization Halvoosh has reported that at least 17 Afghan citizens, including women, men, and children, have lost their lives due to severe thirst in the Mak-Sukhteh area near the Rutak border crossing in Saravan County, Iran. This incident occurred on Thursday, September 19.
