In an interview with the New York Times podcast, he referred to the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Netanyahu on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, saying: "Netanyahu's place is in The Hague."


Mamdani had previously stated that if Netanyahu travels to New York, he would issue an arrest order for him. According to him, this matter is now under review by the city's legal department, and as mayor, he will act in accordance with New York laws.


Meanwhile, Netanyahu had previously accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas—an accusation that the Mayor of New York has denied. Leaders of United Nations member states are scheduled to travel to New York in September for the annual General Assembly meeting, and Netanyahu has attended this summit multiple times in past years.

Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York, announced that the city's legal team is examining the possibility of arresting Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, if he travels to the city to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting this fall.
