A former government soldier was killed after disappearing in Takhar.

Based on information from the sources, Nezām al-Din had left his home in the Aq Masjid area in the afternoon of Saturday to go to prayer; but he never returned home. His mobile phone also became unreachable after he went missing. A day later, his body was found in a location farther from his home, and marks of injuries from stab wounds and a severe cut to the throat from behind were observed on his body.

This former soldier, after the fall of the Republic and the rise to power of the Taliban, had taken up work as a well-digger in Taloqan. Local sources say he had eight young children and had no enmity or personal disputes with anyone. Nevertheless, it remains unclear who or what group targeted him and what the motive for this incident was.

The killing of Nezām al-Din is reported at a time when previous cases of the murder of soldiers and employees of the former government in Afghanistan have also been reported. UNAMA and human rights organizations, after the Taliban's return to power, have reported the arrest, torture, and killing of hundreds of members of the security forces and employees of the former government, and have warned about the continued violation of the Taliban's general amnesty decree.

Human rights organizations and the United Nations have repeatedly stated that the general amnesty decree announced by the Taliban must not be violated and that individuals affiliated with the former regime must be protected from acts of revenge. The murder of Nezām al-Din in Takhar has also occurred amid ongoing concerns about the continuation of attacks and targeted killings of former security forces members.

Local sources in Takhar say that Nezām al-Din, a soldier of the army of Afghanistan's former government, was killed after going missing in the city of Taloqan, the center of this province. According to the sources, his body was found on Sunday, 22 Sharivar, in the Qablaras area of Taloqan, far from his place of residence. The sources say that marks of multiple stab wounds and a deep cut in the neck area were visible on him; however, no information has yet been released about the perpetrators or the motive for this murder.
