The Taliban have reportedly arrested a number of women in Herat again.

Based on information received, among the detainees is also a teenage girl under 18 years old who was arrested by Taliban forces for not wearing a face covering.


At the same time, a video from the scene of the incident has been released in which a group of citizens have gathered around a vehicle belonging to the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.


These arrests continue even as one week has passed since the start of the new wave of detentions of women in Herat. The continuation of this trend has been met with widespread domestic and international reactions and has led to increased public discontent and anger.


The Taliban has so far provided no official explanation or statement regarding the new round of arrests of women in Herat.

Local sources in Herat say that Taliban forces from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice also detained a number of women in the Chaharsuq area of the old city of this province on Saturday. No precise figures on the number of detainees have been released so far.
