This buffalo weighs nearly 700 kilograms and had previously been sold for sacrifice on the holiday; however, after videos and photos of it spread widely on social media, it became a popular sensation across the country. The rush of people to see the animal prompted the government to intervene in the matter.

Salahuddin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s Home Minister, ordered that the buyer’s money be fully refunded and the buffalo be transferred to the Dhaka National Zoo. An official from the Home Ministry stated that at the last moment, due to the sensitivity of public opinion and security issues, it was decided to exempt the animal from sacrifice.

The buffalo’s fame began when videos of it circulated on social media and quickly went viral. After that, large numbers of people from various regions flocked to the farm where it was kept to catch a glimpse of it, turning what was meant to be an ordinary livestock purchase for Eid al-Adha into a major news story.

Ziauddin Moridha, the farm owner, said that his younger brother had chosen the name “Donald Trump” for the buffalo because of the resemblance between its yellow tuft and the hairstyle of the U.S. president. He also noted that the animal has a calm demeanor and requires special care, including constant feeding and regular baths.

Albino buffaloes are extremely rare in Bangladesh, as most livestock in the country have dark coloring. Nevertheless, many believe that it was precisely this controversial name and the widespread public attention that saved the animal’s life.

A rare buffalo in Bangladesh, nicknamed “Donald Trump” for its distinctive yellow tuft of hair, was spared from slaughter on Eid al-Adha. Government officials in the country announced that due to widespread public attention and security concerns, it was decided that the animal would not be sacrificed.
