Trump calls China trip a "great success"

Upon returning to Washington and speaking to reporters on the White House grounds, Trump remarked: "The only thing I can say is that it was a great success. We made a lot of deals and secured good trade agreements."

He added that more details would be released in the coming days and described the trip as a "historic moment" in the relations between the two countries.


Meanwhile, the White House announced in a statement that during this trip, Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the two sides discussed expanding economic cooperation, increasing access for American companies to the Chinese market, and mutual investments.


The White House also stated that the two sides emphasized the continuation of the free flow of energy and agreed on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to support global energy trade. The statement noted that Washington and Beijing also reiterated their opposition to the Islamic Republic acquiring nuclear weapons.


The White House announced that the negotiations also addressed issues such as reducing the entry of fentanyl precursors into the United States and increasing China's purchases of American agricultural products.


In another part of the discussions, the topic of Taiwan was raised. According to reports, Xi Jinping warned that disputes over Taiwan could steer the relations between the two countries toward a "dangerous path."


Reuters news agency reported that these discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted more than two hours between the leaders of the world's two largest economies.


At the same time, some analysts have evaluated this meeting positively. A researcher on Chinese affairs described the meeting as "9.99 out of 10" and said both sides performed successfully in these negotiations.


Victor Gao, former English interpreter for Deng Xiaoping, also described the meeting as "an important step in the right direction for relations between the two countries" and expressed hope that this trend would contribute to a sustained improvement in China-U.S. relations.


He further described the selection of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing as the meeting venue as symbolic, noting that this site has historically been used for prayers for peace and stability, and it could indicate the symbolic importance of this meeting for the future of relations between the two countries.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, has described his trip to China as a "great success" and stated that this visit has led to a series of important trade agreements between Washington and Beijing.
