The Revolutionary Guards announced attacks on US positions in Erbil and several countries.

Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the IRGC, reported that, alongside U.S. positions in Erbil, this country's military targets and assets in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait were also struck. At the same time, an Al Arabiya correspondent reported hearing explosions in Erbil, the center of Iraq's Kurdistan Region. U.S. officials have not yet commented on the IRGC's claims of casualties or damage to this country's forces.


Nevertheless, Axios reported, citing an unnamed U.S. official, that the Islamic Republic fired two drones toward a U.S. base in Erbil, both of which were intercepted. These attacks come as the U.S. military had previously struck targets belonging to Iran's IRGC; Washington described those attacks as a response to the IRGC's recent efforts to target commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. forces in the region.


Iranian state media reported hearing explosions on Qeshm Island following the U.S. attacks, and NourNews also reported explosions heard in Bandar Abbas and Chabahar. The scope and extent of damage from the U.S. attacks remain unclear. These strikes occurred several days after direct clashes between the two countries; U.S. forces targeted Iran's Larak Island on Sunday, and Tehran responded by striking two U.S. military bases in Jordan with missiles.


Axios reported that the recent U.S. attacks on targets around the Strait of Hormuz were part of a plan reviewed in recent days by Donald Trump and his senior advisors. Under this plan, limited strikes aim to prevent Iran from rebuilding its radar and missile capabilities for targeting ships. A U.S. official said the goal of this plan is to reduce the risk of Iranian attacks on oil tankers, naval vessels, and U.S. military aircraft.


At the same time, tensions have escalated in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical oil transit routes. Shipping intelligence firms reported that two large oil tankers were targeted as they exited the strait, and oil prices have risen following the previous round of attacks.


Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran's Parliament, warned that if Iran's oil exports from the Persian Gulf are halted, Tehran will not allow other countries to export their oil through this route either. He also stated that if U.S. pressure increases, Iran will respond militarily.


Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, said ahead of the latest attacks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek that if the U.S. returns to its commitments under the June memorandum, Iran will also fulfill its obligations. This memorandum was signed to end clashes that began on February 28 and left thousands dead in Iran and Lebanon; however, the 60-day negotiations that followed ended without a new agreement.


This exchange of attacks is described as the first direct clash between Iran and the U.S. since July. Donald Trump said on Monday that the recent clash does not mean a return to all-out war; but he warned that if Iran's attacks continue, Washington will respond harshly.



Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that, in response to recent U.S. attacks, it has carried out missile and drone operations against U.S. force positions. According to a statement from the organization, the IRGC Ground Force conducted a "combined" assault on U.S. bases in Erbil and claimed that, as a result of these attacks, a repair facility, U.S. Army technical equipment warehouses, and the guidance system for this country's spy balloon have been destroyed. The IRGC also reported the killing of several U.S. forces.
