UN budget cut by $570 million; Washington announces sweeping financial and administrative reforms

The message states that the United States seeks to transform the United Nations into a more accountable and effective institution by applying pressure and presenting reform initiatives. U.S. officials believe that reducing costs will not only fail to undermine the organization's primary missions but could also pave the way for improved performance and more targeted use of financial resources.


The U.S. Mission has also clarified that the reform process in the United Nations' structure will continue, and Washington will soon release more details about the next steps and upcoming programs—programs that, according to this mission, will play a significant role in strengthening peace and stability on a global scale.
