Sources: Taliban besiege Shia High Commission office in Kabul

The office of the High Commission of Afghan Shiites is located in the home of Sarwar Danish, the former Vice President of Afghanistan, in the Kart-e Chahar area of Kabul. The commission is headed by Mohammad Ali Akhlaqi, a former member of the Afghan parliament.


This commission previously operated under the supervision of the Taliban's Intelligence Directorate, and its establishment was carried out on the orders of the Taliban's leader. However, no further details have been released so far regarding the reason for the siege of the office and the actions of the Taliban Ministry of Justice forces.


The siege of the High Commission of Afghan Shiites' office comes as Taliban Ministry of Justice-affiliated forces have recently evacuated the Khatam al-Nabiyyin Seminary and arrested a number of professors from this Shiite center.


These forces have also recently arrested several members of the Office of Hazaras and Shia Elders in Kabul and seized control of that institution's office.


The Taliban has not yet made any official statement regarding the siege of the High Commission of Afghan Shiites or the recent actions of Ministry of Justice forces against Shiite institutions.



Taliban Ministry of Justice forces surrounded the building of the High Commission of Afghan Shiites in Kabul on Tuesday. Reliable sources have said that members of this commission were present inside the office at the time of the siege, and Taliban forces have stationed themselves around the building. Taliban officials have not yet provided any explanation regarding this incident.
