Rainfall and flooding in Afghanistan claim 28 lives

Yusuf Hamad, spokesman for the Taliban's disaster management department, said in a video message on Saturday (May 22) that, following these incidents, 989 families in various provinces have been affected and nearly 100 families have been forced to leave their homes.


According to Taliban officials, the provinces of Kabul, Parwan, Kapisa, Khost, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Herat, Badghis, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Laghman, and Kunar are among the areas that have witnessed casualties and damage from rainfall and flooding over the past two days.


The Taliban's disaster management department has also announced that during this period, approximately 10 kilometers of roads have been destroyed, 1,956 jeribs of agricultural land have been damaged, and the produce of 810 jeribs of orchards has been lost. According to this department, since April 6, at least 285 people have lost their lives and 354 others have been injured due to natural disasters in Afghanistan.

The Taliban's disaster management department has announced that, as a result of heavy rainfall, storms, lightning, and flooding over the past 48 hours, at least 28 people have lost their lives and 10 others have been injured in various provinces of Afghanistan.
