Trump says second phase of Gaza ceasefire conditional on Hamas disarmament

He stated that the United States wants to begin this phase quickly; but he emphasized that if Hamas fails to fulfill its commitments, it will face serious consequences.


Based on the ceasefire agreement reached with U.S. mediation, the first phase included reducing Israel's military presence, increasing humanitarian aid, and exchanging hostages. The second phase is also intended to lead to the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the end of Hamas's governance.


Meanwhile, Israeli officials have said that the start of the second phase is conditional on the handover of the remains of the last Israeli hostage killed in Gaza, and the Rafah crossing will not be opened until that time.


Trump supported Netanyahu during this meeting and described him as a powerful leader. At the same time, his remarks about the possibility of a judicial pardon for Netanyahu were met with a negative reaction from the office of the President of Israel.


Netanyahu also announced that Israel has decided to award Trump the "Israel Prize" for his role in supporting the country; an action that is being carried out for the first time to a non-Israeli individual.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced after meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu that advancing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire is not possible without the disarmament of Hamas.
