Trump: Leaving Bagram Base Was a Big Mistake

Trump, referring to the events at Kabul airport and the killing of 13 American soldiers, considered this incident a sign of mismanagement and lack of planning by the previous administration. He emphasized that the withdrawal of American forces should have been carried out with authority and while preserving America's position in the world.


The President of the United States also expressed dissatisfaction with the abandonment of Bagram Air Base and said that this base was one of the most important military centers of the United States in the region, and handing it over was considered a strategic error. According to him, Bagram had very high value in terms of geographical location and military capacity and should not have been abandoned.


Trump continued by adding that a large amount of advanced American military equipment and gear remained in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of forces and fell into the hands of the Taliban; a matter that he called "shameful." He said that seeing the display of this equipment in ceremonies and parades presents an inappropriate image of America to the world.


Trump, both before leaving the White House and afterward, has repeatedly criticized the Joe Biden administration for the manner of withdrawing American forces from Afghanistan.


After the withdrawal of American forces, a significant volume of advanced military equipment remained in Afghanistan, including armored vehicles, modern weapons, biometric equipment, and other military technologies. According to a report from the U.S. Department of Defense, the value of this equipment is estimated at more than seven billion dollars. There are also reports that the Taliban has repaired some of this damaged equipment and made it usable again.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, once again sharply criticized the process of withdrawing American forces from Afghanistan, describing the decision as one of the weakest moments in American history.
