Sources: Taliban again arrest women in Jibraeel and Industrial City

In the Jibril area, Taliban officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice initially stopped and detained a group of women. The exact number of detainees is unclear; however, one source reported the figure as 12 people.


A video made available to us shows Taliban Promotion of Virtue officials stopping women in the Jibril area. The Taliban has not yet provided any explanation regarding this incident.


At the same time, other sources say that Taliban forces also detained at least 10 women near the entrance gate to Herat's industrial town.


According to sources, the women who work in Herat's industrial town are mostly from low-income families and are employed as laborers in the town. Sources added that these women usually wear clothing similar to women's work attire.


These detentions are reported as the Taliban has increased restrictions on women's dress and movement in Herat in recent months. Prior to this, numerous reports had been published about the detention of women in various parts of the city on charges of not adhering to the Taliban's preferred dress code.



Local sources in Herat say that Taliban forces detained a number of women at two locations in the city on Thursday, including the Jibril area and around the entrance gate to the industrial town. According to these sources, the detained women were taken to an unknown location after being transported from the site, and their families have no information so far about where they are being held or their condition.
