German Chancellor: The Islamic Republic has lost its legitimacy

Friedrich Merz, in response to the massacre of protesters in Iran, emphasized that such a structure is on the verge of collapse and will likely not last more than a few weeks.


On Wednesday, during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Romania, he said that the Islamic Republic lacks legitimacy to govern the country and that its continued existence is only possible through force.


Merz also expressed support for Italy's proposed plan to include the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the European Union's list of terrorist organizations, stating that despite broad consensus, one or two member states are still not ready to join this decision.


EU member states are scheduled to discuss this proposal on Thursday.

The German Chancellor says that a government which sees its survival solely in suppression, violence, and creating an atmosphere of fear can no longer represent the will of the people.
