National Independence Front claims responsibility for Kabul University dormitory explosion

Earlier, sources in Kabul reported that on Friday evening, following an explosion in the dormitory compound of Kabul University, a number of students were injured.


This anti-Taliban front, in a statement issued on Saturday (June 3), claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack had inflicted casualties on Taliban forces.


According to the group, in this operation, the positions of the guards at the Kabul Medical University dormitory were targeted, which they described as being used as a means of pressure and suppression.


The newsletter from the National Independence Front also confirms that during this incident, due to the breaking of glass and clashes, a number of students were injured.


Earlier, local sources at Kabul University stated that an explosion had occurred in the university dormitory compound, resulting in injuries to several students. According to these sources, the incident took place as students were heading toward the cafeteria, and after the explosion, the university premises were placed under military lockdown, with students not permitted to leave.


Reports also indicate that Taliban forces have been deployed to the site and have imposed restrictions on photography and access to information, while the exact number of the injured and further details of the incident remain under investigation.


The newsletter further states that "Dr. Nawid Ahmad Ahmadzai," the leader of the National Independence Front of Afghanistan, expressed deep regret over the injury to students, apologized to their families, and emphasized that the protection of civilian lives has always been a priority for this group.


The front has also warned that turning educational institutions into military bases will face a harsh response and reiterated that, according to them, "the struggle will continue until the complete overthrow of the Taliban regime."
