Fayeq: Independence has meaning when the freedom and rights of the people are secured

Faiq, referring to the restrictions imposed particularly on women and girls in Afghanistan, emphasized that "independence without the people's freedom is incomplete."


In a note on the social network X, he wrote that commemorating independence gains true meaning when Afghan citizens, especially women and girls, enjoy their fundamental rights and freedoms.


Afghanistan's representative to the United Nations also stressed the people's right to participate freely and effectively in decision-making concerning the country's fate and future.


According to Faiq, independence is not merely the end of foreign domination; rather, one can speak of its true realization only when the people's will is respected, the human dignity of citizens is upheld, and no individual is deprived of their fundamental rights due to gender, ethnicity, language, religion, or political views.


He concluded by emphasizing that the liberation of a land from foreign domination, without ensuring the freedom and rights of its people, cannot be considered complete and genuine independence.

Nasir Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan's representative to the United Nations, stated in a message marking the anniversary of the country's independence that independence cannot be achieved merely through slogans and must be accompanied by freedom, citizens' rights, and respect for the people's will.
