Regional Crisis IRGC announces missile attack on US military base in Jordan

This attack is being announced just four days after the cessation of hostilities between the two sides.


In a statement, the IRGC Aerospace Force Command stated that as long as threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran persist and American forces—as described by this entity—continue to carry out unlawful and malicious actions against Iran's interests, the response and resistance will also continue. The statement also emphasized that U.S. officials must halt their threats and interventions against Iran's interests.


On the other side, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has also confirmed the occurrence of this attack. CENTCOM announced that in the early hours of Wednesday morning (August 7), IRGC forces launched several ballistic missiles from Iranian soil toward U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East region in a surprise attack.


According to CENTCOM, all the launched missiles were successfully intercepted and did not hit their targets.


This development comes even as hostilities between the two countries had been halted since Saturday. Additionally, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced on Monday that talks between Tehran and Washington are underway to find a solution to end the war and resolve the issue of Iran's nuclear program.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that, in response to what it described as the "continued threats and unlawful and malicious actions by the United States" against Iran and its interests, it has targeted a U.S. military base in Jordan with ballistic missiles.
