Mujahid: International aid has not reached the Taliban regime

Mujahid, in response to reports about the Taliban's interference in aid distribution, rejected these claims and said that not "a single rupee" of international aid has reached the Taliban administration. He also stated that this aid must reach needy individuals and be spent transparently in sectors with the greatest need.


These remarks come as some aid organizations and institutions have accused the Taliban of interfering in the distribution process and directing humanitarian aid. Mujahid, meanwhile, said the Taliban has not created obstacles to the activities of international organizations; however, he warned that institutions failing to adhere to the Taliban's principles would face "punishment," and measures would be taken to prevent what he called "inappropriate expenditures."


The Taliban spokesperson also expressed concern over the reduction in global aid to relief organizations in Afghanistan, stating that these entities are facing budget shortages. He called on the international community to increase the level of its assistance and to provide more support to internally displaced persons and refugees; according to him, the current level of aid to these groups is "negligible."


The decline in international aid continues amid a severe humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, where millions of people depend on foreign assistance. The United States halted the bulk of its aid to Afghanistan in 2025, with American officials voicing concerns over the potential for these resources to reach the Taliban or terrorist groups, either directly or indirectly. The United Nations also reported in 2026 a severe shortage of funds to meet Afghanistan's humanitarian needs.



Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, says that no portion of the international humanitarian aid has been transferred to the Taliban administration. He stated on Saturday, September 14, during the sixth session of "Government in the Mirror of the Press" that aid organizations themselves manage and utilize global assistance, and the Taliban has no involvement in the process of using these resources.
