In response to this action, Perry wrote on the social network X that she was "furious and horrified" to see her song used as the backdrop for footage of military strikes. She emphasized that she does not endorse this use and had given no permission for her work to be utilized in this way.


The singer stated that the song "Firework" was created to convey messages of hope, inner strength, and support for those facing difficult circumstances in life, and that using it alongside images of war and destruction goes against the meaning that this track represents. She added that her music is meant to bring people together, not to celebrate war.
