Sources: Taliban intelligence arrests two UNAMA human rights workers in Herat

According to these sources, these two employees had recently conducted investigations and prepared reports on the detention of women in Herat and had spoken with several girls who had been in Taliban custody.


Sources on Tuesday, 20 Asad, said that Taliban intelligence personnel detained these two UNAMA employees on Sunday, 18 Asad, as they were leaving their office in Herat and took them away.


The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has not yet commented on the detention of this agency's employees in Herat.


The Taliban administration has also not officially said anything so far regarding the detention of these two Human Rights Unit employees of UNAMA.



Informed sources say that two employees of the Human Rights Unit of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Herat have been detained by Taliban intelligence.
