Ahmad Massoud: The will of the people cannot be defeated by violence

On Friday, in a statement, he expressed his appreciation to the women and men who took to the streets in defense of women's freedom and human dignity, and said that their steadfastness carries a clear message: that pressure, threats, and suppression can never extinguish the voice of the people of Afghanistan's quest for justice.


Massoud also criticized the Taliban militants' treatment of the protesters, particularly the detention of protesting women, and stated that the foundations of Taliban rule are built on instilling fear, humiliating citizens, and perpetrating violence.


The leader of the National Resistance Front, in another part of his remarks, pointed to the severe media restrictions and the closed information environment in Afghanistan, saying that the images that have emerged from events in Herat and Kabul represent only a small portion of the vast and bitter reality that the people of the country, especially women, are facing.


Addressing the protesting women of Herat, he emphasized that they are not alone in this struggle and added that resistance forces stand alongside them to defend the freedom, fundamental rights, and human dignity of the people of Afghanistan. According to him, supporting women's rights is, in truth, a defense of the nation's honor and the country's future.


Massoud went on to call on all political groups, national figures, scholars, elites, media outlets, and international organizations to set aside intellectual and political differences and adopt a clear and responsible stance toward the current situation in Afghanistan.


He warned that silence, neutrality, and ambiguous positions are no longer adequate responses to the existing conditions, and stressed that the time has now come for everyone to stand alongside the people of Afghanistan and their legitimate demands, and not allow the violation of citizens' rights to become normalized.

Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, referring to the recent protests by women and a number of citizens in Herat, stated that the resistance and steadfastness of the people of this city have once again proven that no system based on force and tyranny is capable of silencing the will and determination of the people.
