Pakistani and US foreign ministers discuss Afghanistan

In this session, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States, economic and trade cooperation, cultural cooperation, counterterrorism efforts, and security issues, while emphasizing the continuation of coordination between the two countries.


According to a statement from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, Ishaq Dar raised Islamabad's concerns regarding the use of Afghan soil by terrorist groups against Pakistan and called for strengthened cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.


In continuation, the two sides welcomed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-U.S. relations over the past year and emphasized expanding cooperation across various domains. Additionally, Ishaq Dar expressed appreciation for the views and efforts of Donald Trump, President of the United States, on peace issues and highlighted his role in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India. U.S. officials also praised Pakistan's diplomatic efforts.


At the conclusion of this meeting, the two sides emphasized the continuation of cooperation and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced that Ishaq Dar, the country's Foreign Minister, discussed the situation in Afghanistan and Islamabad's security concerns during a meeting with Marco Rubio, the U.S. Foreign Secretary. The meeting took place on Friday, 8 Jowza, in Washington.
