Audio file attributed to Fateh; Taliban accuse him of collaborating with opposition

Hijaz News, one of the propaganda pages affiliated with Taliban intelligence, released this file under the title "Unveiling Juma Khan Fatah's Contact with the Freedom Front." The page claims that the individual on the other end of the call is a senior member of the Freedom Front and has offered Fatah financial aid and weaponry. The Freedom Front of Afghanistan has not yet responded to these claims or the audio file.

This new file has surfaced amid recent clashes between Fatah and the Taliban in Darwaz, where he had stated that he has no opposition to the "Islamic Emirate" and that his main dispute is with the presence of Taliban intelligence special forces in the area. Hijaz News is now attempting, through the release of this file, to challenge that narrative and present it as evidence of Fatah's ties to the Taliban's armed opponents.

In recent days, pages affiliated with Taliban intelligence have also leveled various accusations against Fatah, including involvement in extorting gold mines, drug trafficking, transferring Takfiri individuals, killing Taliban forces, receiving support from foreign intelligence, and efforts to create instability in the region. None of these accusations have been independently verified to date, and it is also unclear whether any formal judicial case has been opened against Fatah based on these claims.

Fatah, on Monday, August 26, left his positions in the Nesi district of Badakhshan after nearly a week of clashes with Taliban forces. Following negotiations with Fasihuddin Fitrat, the head of the Taliban army's general staff, he was transferred to Fayzabad. Sources close to Fatah had previously stated that he agreed to end the fighting after receiving guarantees regarding the security of himself and his men; meanwhile, the Taliban have described this incident as his "surrender."

Since Fatah's transfer to Fayzabad, no independent information has been released about his current location or status. The release of this new audio file, coinciding with multiple accusations against him, has raised the possibility that the rift between Fatah and the Taliban may have escalated beyond an internal dispute into a security and judicial matter. Nevertheless, until independent evidence is provided regarding the file's authenticity, the manner and timing of its recording, and the accusations leveled, these claims cannot be considered definitive or confirmed.

Media outlets affiliated with Taliban intelligence published an audio file on Friday, attributing it to Juma Khan Fatah, the disgruntled Taliban commander in Badakhshan. These outlets claim that Fatah, in this conversation, discusses receiving financial and military assistance with an individual introduced as a member of the "Freedom Front." However, the authenticity of this file and the identity of the other individual have not yet been independently verified, and the time, place, and circumstances of the conversation's recording remain unclear.
