Former Israeli PM: Possible US-Iran deal is Netanyahu's strategic failure

Lapid wrote in a message on the social network X that if this agreement is finalized, the Iranian regime will remain in power, the country's missile program will remain unchanged, and Tehran will retain the ability to rebuild its nuclear program.


He emphasized that this potential memorandum of understanding fulfills none of Israel's stated war objectives. According to him, neither the structure of the Iranian regime will change, nor will its missile program be limited, nor will the ability to rebuild the nuclear program be eliminated.


Israel's opposition leader also wrote: "This is a complete failure for Netanyahu. He is turning Israel into a country that takes orders from others on matters related to its national security." He added that no press conference, media spin, or AI-generated video will be able to hide this failure.


Lapid continued by stating that Israel's future government will face a historic responsibility; a responsibility that, according to him, includes compensating for the damages and consequences resulting from Netanyahu's inability to convert military achievements into strategic successes.
