After firing missiles at Israel; Army Army: Iran made a big mistake

Meanwhile, two sources close to the Islamic Republic's military institutions told Iran International that following Israel's attacks on Monday against Hezbollah's command and planning center in Beirut's Dahiyeh neighborhood, the missile units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had been placed on full alert. According to these sources, senior IRGC commanders in recent hours had formally requested permission from Mojtaba Khamenei's office—the new leader of the Islamic Republic—to initiate missile strikes against Israel.


These developments are occurring amid earlier warnings from Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Central Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, that any attack on Beirut could be met with missile strikes on northern Israel. According to reports, following this warning and with direct mediation and pressure from Donald Trump, the U.S. President, Israel temporarily refrained from carrying out a large-scale attack on Beirut; however, the fresh strikes by Israeli fighter jets on Dahiyeh have once again heightened the likelihood of direct confrontation between the two sides. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran's Parliament National Security Commission, has also threatened Israel with retaliatory action, stating that Iran’s response should be expected in the skies over Israel.


Sources close to the IRGC say that Islamic Republic military officials are concerned that refraining from responding to Israel's attacks could encourage the country to intensify operations against Hezbollah. According to them, IRGC commanders believe that ignoring declared red lines could undermine the morale of Hezbollah forces and endanger the Islamic Republic's position among its regional allied groups. In response, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Prime Minister, described the recent attacks on Dahiyeh as a reaction to Hezbollah's missile fire on northern Israel.


On the other hand, a senior Islamic Republic official told Reuters that Tehran would respond to any Israeli military action with even greater intensity, and in the event of an attack, U.S. bases in the region could also be added to the list of targets. The IRGC also announced in a statement that it had targeted the "Ramat David" airbase with ballistic missiles, describing this action as a response to Israel's attacks in Lebanon. The organization further accused the United States and Israel of violating the ceasefire and warned that if the attacks continue, subsequent responses would be more extensive. At the same time, Iranian media reported that Abbas Araghchi had held separate discussions with officials from Britain, Turkey, and Pakistan regarding regional security developments and Iran's response to recent events.

The Israeli army announced that it had detected several missiles launched from Iranian soil and that the country's defense systems had been activated to intercept them. At the same time, an Israeli source told Sky News Arabia that at least two missiles launched from Iran had been intercepted and destroyed. Following this incident, the Israeli army spokesperson emphasized that Tehran had committed a "grave mistake" by firing these missiles and that Israel was on full alert to counter any potential further attacks.
