Enayatollah Kharazmi: One of our helicopters was damaged during landing in Badakhshan

Enayatullah Khorazmi, spokesman for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, said on Thursday that the helicopter's blade struck a pole during landing, resulting in damage to it. He added that no one was harmed in this incident.


This is the first official Taliban response following the publication of reports about the crash of one of this group's military helicopters in the Nasi district of Badakhshan. Earlier, local sources had said that a Taliban helicopter crashed in the "Rig Kofshin" area and that individuals affiliated with Juma Khan Fatah shot it down, causing the helicopter to go down. Some sources also claimed that all occupants were killed; a claim that has not been independently verified.


Prior to this incident, reports had also been published about Taliban helicopters carrying out airstrikes on the positions of Juma Khan Fatah's individuals near the center of Nasi district. Sources said that Fatah's individuals had taken positions on a mountain overlooking the district building.


The clashes between Taliban forces and individuals affiliated with Juma Khan Fatah began on the evening of Tuesday, 20 Asad, in Nasi district and are still ongoing.

The Taliban Ministry of Defense has denied reports about the crash of one of this group's helicopters in Badakhshan and says that one helicopter from this ministry was damaged during landing.
