Ahmad Massoud: In a free election, the Taliban would be defeated by figures like Dostum

He emphasized that narratives of division are raised with the aim of fostering despair among the people and the international community.


Massoud, who was speaking at a virtual gathering marking the tenth anniversary of the passing of Sayed Hussain Anwari, urged anti-Taliban groups to remain vigilant against what he called "divisive narrative-building." According to him, the opponents of the Taliban are united and adhere to common principles.


The leader of the National Resistance Front also stated that if free and transparent elections are held in Afghanistan and people vote without restrictions, the Taliban would not be able to compete with figures who have a popular base. Referring to Abdul Rashid Dostum, he noted that in such elections, Marshal Dostum would surpass the Taliban.


Massoud further emphasized that the alternative to the Taliban is not a single individual or specific figure, but rather a national and legal process that includes forming a transitional government, drafting a constitution, convening a Loya Jirga, and holding free elections. He described this process as the path to achieving a legitimate government accepted by all Afghan citizens.

Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, rejected claims of discord among Taliban opponents, stating that these movements stand together based on shared values and goals.
