Several people killed in Iran following economic protests

These protests began on Sunday following the worsening economic conditions; after protesters, in response to the government's handling of the sharp decline in the value of the national currency and the rapid rise in prices, took to the streets in various cities across Iran.


Fars News Agency reported that during an attack on a police station in Lorestan province in western Iran, three protesters were killed and at least 17 others were injured.


According to this report, "protesters entered the police headquarters around 18:00 local time on Thursday, clashed with security forces, and set several police vehicles on fire."


According to Iranian domestic media, these unrests are considered the largest wave of protests in the past three years in the Islamic Republic of Iran, which have turned violent in a number of provinces and are still spreading.

Iranian media reported on Thursday, January 1, that several people have been killed during the unrest in Iran.
