Pakistani politician: Ayesha Wahab's victory is an honor for Afghan women

Dawar wrote on Saturday, August 31, in a message on the social network X that this unprecedented victory is a historic achievement and a great moment of pride for the people of Afghanistan around the world, particularly Afghan women.

Ayesha Wahab, former California state senator, won on Thursday in the special election for the 14th district of that state and took the place of Eric Swalwell, the resigned member of the US House of Representatives. She is the first Afghan-American to enter the United States Congress.

Wahab's victory has been met with widespread welcome from Afghans in various parts of the world, and a number of figures have described this success as a sign of the capability and worthiness of Afghan women.

This success has been achieved at a time when women and girls in Afghanistan face extensive restrictions. Girls are deprived of continuing education after the sixth grade, and women are also restricted or deprived from work, higher education, travel, and movement

Mohsin Dawar, leader of the National Democratic Movement of Pakistan, has congratulated Ayesha Wahab, the first Afghan-American woman to be elected to the United States Congress, and described this success as a source of pride and honor for the people of Afghanistan, especially Afghan women.
