Reuters: Several US military aircraft damaged in attack on Jordanian base

According to this report, approximately eight F-15 fighter jets also sustained minor damage; however, after repairs, they have returned to service. This attack occurred after the Islamic Republic announced the firing of ballistic missiles at a U.S. military base in Jordan.


Jordanian officials have stated that the country's air defense intercepted 18 out of a total of 20 missiles fired, with the other two missiles landing in uninhabited areas. The United States had previously announced that its forces were unharmed in the attack.


U.S. officials have described the damage to equipment as "minimal" and stated that no casualties have been reported. Nevertheless, the possibility of traumatic brain injuries from the blast among some personnel stationed at the base has been raised in the coming days.


Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, known as Al-Azraq, is located about 100 kilometers northeast of Amman and is one of the key U.S. operational and support hubs in the region. The base hosts U.S. fighter jets, attack aircraft, and drones, and in recent months, it has been targeted multiple times by Iranian missile attacks.



Reuters news agency, citing Jennifer Jacobs, a CBS correspondent, has reported that in a nighttime attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, several U.S. military aircraft were damaged. One A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft was targeted, and one of its wings was destroyed.
