Taliban confirms continued drug trafficking from Afghanistan to Tajikistan

He stated that due to the length of the shared border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, smugglers occasionally take advantage.


Tajikistan's border guard announced on Friday, 10 Dalwa (Dhu al-Hijjah), that the country's forces had clashed with a group of armed individuals at the border with Afghanistan. According to Tajik officials, these individuals were smugglers, and during the clash, three of them were killed.


The Taliban spokesperson, in an interview with the National Radio and Television—which operates under Taliban control—said regarding this clash that the Taliban administration is striving to resolve border issues and prevent drug smuggling.


He also stated that the Taliban administration and Tajikistan are coordinated on this matter, and smuggling will be prevented in the future.


Tajikistan's National Security Committee has announced that in the recent clash at the Afghan border, several weapons and four bags containing 73 packages of hashish and opium were seized from the smugglers.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, has confirmed that despite efforts, drug smuggling continues from Afghanistan to Tajikistan.
