Clashes with opposition; Taliban confirms attack on its positions in Zibak, Badakhshan

Taliban officials, in an interview with Radio Hurriyat, a media outlet close to the group, have claimed that the opposing individuals intended to enter Badakhshan from Pakistani soil to carry out what they called “sabotage activities.” These officials also claimed that these individuals were stationed in Pakistan’s Chitral region and were attempting to enter Zibak district via the Shah Salim Chitral route.


Meanwhile, Taliban sources have denied reports of the killing of Mullah Abdul Jamil Rahmani, the commander of this group’s 15th Border Brigade, stating that he is alive and in good health.


To date, no specific group or faction has claimed responsibility for the attack on Taliban positions in Zibak. Local sources say that in these clashes, both Taliban forces and their opponents have suffered casualties.

Taliban officials in Corps 219 Lifeth, have confirmed the attack by forces opposing this group in Zibak district of Badakhshan province. They claim that during the clash between the opposing forces and individuals affiliated with the Taliban’s 15th Border Brigade, five of their opposing attackers were killed and several others wounded. However, the Taliban have not provided any information regarding the number of casualties among their own forces.
