Explosion at Shiite Alawite mosque in Syria kills at least five

According to Syrian officials, this incident occurred in a neighborhood with a majority Alawite population, and security forces immediately brought the area under control.


Based on a statement from the Homs city media office, a bomb exploded inside the "Imam Ali" mosque. Issam Nemma, a local official, stated in an interview with Reuters news agency that this explosion took place simultaneously with Friday prayers.


The state news agency SANA has also published images showing rescuers and security forces examining the explosion debris and scattered rubble on the mosque floor.


To date, no group has claimed responsibility for this attack, and investigations into the incident's dimensions are ongoing.

Following an explosion in one of the mosques in the city of Homs, Syria, at least five people lost their lives and 21 others were injured.
