Zelensky: North Korea is ready to send 10,000 more troops to Russia

According to Zelenskyy, intelligence from Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency indicates that these forces are currently being selected and trained, and are set to be sent to Russia once this process is complete.


He stated in a video message to the Ukrainian people on Monday evening that more than 8,000 North Korean soldiers are currently present on Russian soil.


Based on estimates from Ukrainian and South Korean officials, Pyongyang has deployed approximately 14,000 to 15,000 military personnel to Russia since 2024.


The bulk of these forces have been stationed in the Kursk region, near the Ukrainian border, and are assisting Russian forces in countering Ukrainian operations in the area.


Zelenskyy also stated that the military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang is taking place in exchange for technical and technological assistance from Russia to North Korea.


He added that, with Russian technical support, North Korea has also begun production of "Shahed"-type attack drones.


The "Shahed" drones are Iranian-made, and Russia has used samples of these attack drones in the war in Ukraine. In addition to using Iranian models, Russia has produced and employed its own versions based on these drones domestically.



Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says North Korea is preparing about 10,000 additional soldiers for deployment to Russia to assist in the country's war against Ukraine.
