Sources: Taliban to control Panjshir after military vehicle explosion

According to sources, Taliban forces on Tuesday, October 26, searched the homes of residents in the Chaharbazi Khwaja area of the Abdullah Khil Valley. They have also established new checkpoints in this village and restricted the nighttime movement of local residents.

One resident of the Abdullah Khil Valley identified the detained individuals as Kbar, Moslem, Mir Ghyas, Gholam Akbar, and Sher Shah. He said that with the deployment of a new Taliban military unit in this area, the pressure and restrictions on residents have intensified.

Based on reports, on October 12, a Taliban Ranger vehicle in the Chaharbazi Khwaja area was targeted in an explosion, resulting in the death of at least one member of the group.

Local sources reported after that incident that the Taliban had detained at least 21 people, including women and children. According to one source, at least 10 individuals were detained from Tahy Shway village alone just hours after the explosion. This source claimed that two of the detainees had been transferred to the 40th Intelligence Directorate, and their fate remains unknown.

Residents of the Abdullah Khil Valley also stated on October 25 that following this explosion, the Taliban security unit commanders in the area had been replaced, and the new forces had imposed even greater restrictions on people's daily lives.

Previously, on June 24, a Taliban military vehicle in the Abdullah Khil Valley had been targeted in an attack. The Green Trend, led by Amrullah Saleh, former vice president of Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for that attack and stated that 10 Taliban members had been killed. Local sources at the time said that more than 30 people were detained by the Taliban following that incident.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Khanzani, spokesman for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, said on October 20 that the Taliban had established around 700 security outposts in Panjshir and deployed nearly 30,000 forces in this province. This figure has not been independently verified.

Local sources say that the Taliban, continuing their security operations in the Abdullah Khil Valley of Panjshir, have once again searched the homes of residents in this area and detained at least four more individuals. These actions continue even as about two weeks have passed since the explosion of a Taliban Ranger vehicle in this valley.
